Joining the French conversation group is a great way to keep up your French by chatting to others - in French, of course.

If you are a learner or your French is rather rusty, you’ll be encouraged to get back into it and actually speak the language a little.

We talk about anything that is of interest which could be a holiday you’ve had, a film or programme you have seen or a visit you have made.
There is no homework or preparation, unless you want to, and we help each other out when we are lost for (French) words.

Some people prepare a little to make it easier to talk or they read what they have written, others just ad lib.

We are not worried about the grammar or perfect French as communication is what it is all about.

Even if you don’t think your French is good enough, do come and try us out. You may be surprised at what you know. Even if you don’t want to talk very much, you’ll find that listening to others improves your French and helps you to speak the language better.

Our meetings are held in the café of the Open Learning Centre every other Tuesday, and they are free.

We look forward to welcoming new members.
