Philosophy

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Philosophy group
When: Monthly on Tuesday mornings 10:00 am
1st Tuesday
Venue: Bracknell Methodist Church
Cost: Small cost to contribute to room hire

Before each meeting one member volunteers (this is not compulsory!) and chooses a short reading, which can be either abstract or practical, and prepares a brief introduction (we are currently selecting from “Philosophy: Basic Readings” edited by Nigel Warburton).  This is followed by an open, and often broad-ranging discussion on the topic. Recent subjects have included animal rights, the ideas of Martin Luther King and the basis of morality.

We are a friendly group; we like to exchange ideas, and we are always respectful, whether in agreement or not.

New members are welcome; no previous experience or knowledge of Philosophy is required.
